From emerging Native designers to talented youth and community models, this showcase is a vibrant expression of culture, identity, and intergenerational connection. As the oldest urban Indian center in the country, the Phoenix Indian Center continues its commitment to empowering Indigenous communities and creating spaces where Native artistry and representation shine. This year’s new downtown Phoenix location makes it even easier to gather in the heart of the city and celebrate Indigenous fashion and design.

We were honored to capture Nambé Pueblo Artist Edwin Felter's designs at the iconic Duomo Cathedral in Milan, Italy. His bold statement designs are worn by Elijah McGuire and Andrew Moran. Felter collectively collaborated for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) runway look for Milan Fashion Week worn by Rose McFadden; and can be seen on @fnxtv documentary "Red on the Runway".

Edwin is a proud Nambé Pueblo artist jewelry designer, and model whose bold one-of-a-kind creations in silver, gold, and natural stone embody the storytelling of his culture and self. Edwin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electro Mechanical Engineering from Northern New Mexico College, where he also taught physics, robotics, and design. We were honored to capture Nambé Pueblo Artist Edwin Felter's designs at the iconic Duomo Cathedral in Milan, Italy. His bold statement designs are worn by Elijah McGuire and Andrew Moran. Felter collectively collaborated for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) runway look for Milan Fashion Week worn by Rose McFadden; and can be seen on @fnxtv documentary "Red on the Runway".

Edwin is a proud Nambé Pueblo artist jewelry designer, and model whose bold one-of-a-kind creations in silver, gold, and natural stone embody the storytelling of his culture and self. Edwin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electro Mechanical Engineering from Northern New Mexico College, where he also taught physics, robotics, and design. Designer Jennifer J. Benally, an enrolled citizen of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, honors her Diné grandmother’s Two Grey Hills rug weaving and the generations of women who carried forward strength, story, and tradition through every thread.

With over 30 years of experience, Jennifer blends Indigenous tradition with modern fashion, drawing from her Diné and Haudenosaunee roots. A 2023 graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts and former Nike Color & Trend intern, she continues to create wearable masterpieces that instill confidence and celebrate culture.

Her work has been featured at Santa Fe Indian Market, Red Earth, Heard Museum Guild Indian Art Market, and more. Now, she’s bringing Woven Echoes with us to Milan. Every piece is a story. Every thread is a prayer. Every design is a remembrance.

We are incredibly proud to highlight Yasakw Designs by Shelly Samuels, one of our partnering artists who sent her art with us to Milan, Italy for Milan Fashion Week.

Shelly’s work — a stunning fusion of Haida and Kwakwaka’wakw artistry — carries stories of lineage, resilience, and ancestral wealth. Her breathtaking pieces were beautifully captured and modeled by the talented FNX Network Team: Frank Blanquet, Sahar Khadjenoury, and Goldie Tom.

Yasakw (Shelly Samuels) comes from a long line of Haida Yakgujanaas Raven Clan women and is a proud member of the Kwiiungliis Grizzly Bear House, with sub-crests of Three Fin Killer Whale and Dogfish. Her mother is Maureen Samuels, and her late Naanii, Audrey Samuels, was a residential school survivor and thriver.

Shelly also honors her Kwakwaka’wakw roots — her father was the late master carver Awasatlas, Russell Smith — and she carries the Thunderbird and Sea Bear crests.

Her Haida name, Guudangaay Tlaatsgaa Jaad (Strong Minded Woman), was gifted to her after completing her Bachelor of Social Work degree. Her Kwakiutl name, Yasakw, connects her to her paternal grandmother’s legacy.

Residing on Haida Gwaii with her family, Shelly’s artistry reflects deep cultural expression and connection to the land. She works with Copper, Abalone, Cedar, Animal Hides, Dentalium Shells, and Trade Beads, materials imbued with meaning and history — each symbolizing Ancestral Wealth and Traditional Knowledge.

From Haida Gwaii to Milan, Yasakw’s creations embody storytelling, reclamation, and Indigenous sovereignty through art. Truly honored to work with you Shelly and bring a piece of you to Milan.

We are honored to spotlight Panther Tiwa, a valued partner of Isabella Rose Design Co. and a respected leader within the International Indigenous Fashion Council (IIFC). Panther will serve as the MC for the First People’s Fashion Show, and as a show sponsor, we are proud to stand alongside her—celebrating both her leadership and the innovative looks she will be wearing on January 17 as we kick off 2026 in powerful Indigenous style.

Panther Tiwa (Taos Pueblo/Rarámuri) is an award-winning educator, athlete, writer, and actor whose work continues to uplift Indigenous communities. Her achievements include honors from the California Teachers Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and the California Indian Education Association. She is the author of the children’s book Kiki’s Journey and the poetry collection Reclamation Road, sharing her lived experience of adoption and belonging with a voice that helps others reconnect to community, identity, and home.

An accomplished athlete and wellness consultant, Panther integrates traditional Indigenous knowledge into health and fitness practices, presenting nationwide and training communities through an intergenerational, holistic approach—body, mind, and spirit—as a pathway to healing. You can also see her on screen in Disney Marvel’s Echo, where she appears as one of Maya’s ancestors.
